The "de" and "de2" languages differ only by hyphenation patterns:
"de" language works with old-style hyphenation but "de2" is
adapted to new orthography (since August 1998).

The "\langinit" initializes "\frenchspacing" only.

There are two dialects: "varphrases" (for variant phrases
defined by "\langphrases") and "austrian" (for variant name of
January in "\today" macro: ``J\"anner'' instead ``Januar'').

You can choose one active character: "\activechar!"".
This command sets the "!"" character as expandable doublechar prefix
with the following meanings:

equivalent to "\nobreak\hskip0pt".

The "\mdqon" command is equivalent to "\activechar!"" and
"\mdqoff" does the same as "\deactivechar!"".
